Shot By Cops, 13 Year Old Hobbles Into Court
posted (June 13, 2018)

A 13 year old boy accused of pulling a gun on police was arraigned today.  The teenager had to hop into court with a cast on the leg where police shot him 10 days ago.

The boy was taken to the family court where he was read three criminal charges: one, for kept firearm without a gun license, another for, kept ammunitions without a gun license and one count of aggravated assault upon a police officer.   He pleaded not guilty and was remanded into custody at the Belize Youth Hostel located at Mile 21 on the George Price Highway.

A police officer from the GSU says the minor pulled a loaded 38 pistol on him on June third - and he had to shoot the 13 year old in the foot to subdue him.  The boy's father claims the gun was planted.  The child has been in the hospital under police guard since the shooting.
