Will CEMO Be Allowed Into Civic?
posted (June 13, 2018)

So, with all the national emergency services being housed at the CIVIC, will the Government allow the PUP City Council a bit of space to set up their Emergency Operating Center?

You'll remember that, last week, Mayor Bernard Wagner told the press that they've been having some difficulties getting a final written commitment permitting them to set up an emergency operation's base at the CIVIC.

When the media asked Castro about it, he gave a sort of non-committal response:

Hon. Edmond Castro - NEMO Minister
"CEMO falls under NEMO and actually with 2 or 3 thousand people here we will have to have some kind of command center. It might not be the best suited for be used strictly for a EOC. I think it's best suited for the most vulnerable, those who in hospitals, people going through child birth and the asthma and the whole emergency operations so I think it's best suited for that and also to have the security forces housed here. We will see where this takes and we will try to work with CEMO and see how best we could resolve the situation but we are people first, we want to make sure that we take care of those who can't take care of themselves first and then we worry about the others."
