Defence Minister Says Public Education Begins

So while the ongoing Belize Guatemala dispute is playing out on the ground, all that will influence the outcome of Belize's ICJ referendum. As you know, Guatemala voted yes to the ICJ in their referendum. So, to ensure that Belizeans are properly informed to make their decision on Wednesday, April 10th, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has starting planning its countrywide education campaign. National Security Minister John Saldivar told us more.

"They have already began their consultations nationwide, I mean the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I can tell you that earlier, this is Thursday, earlier this week we had a workshop with our military personnel, we are discussing the issue, we are discussing the national security options that I have been advised to say would come out of the ICJ vote whether it is yes or no and we intend to travel the country as military and as national security personnel to talk with Belizeans on what are our perspectives on the ICJ issue."
