More Charges For Mexican Credit Card Fraudsters
posted (June 18, 2018)
It's been about 2 months since we've had an update on the 3 accused Mexican credit card fraudsters, but they are back in the news tonight after police handed them a bevy of new criminal charges. You'll remember them as 26 year-old Belen Hernandez, her husband, Joscan Jafet Hernandez, and 31 year-old Lionel Rodriguez. These 3 allegedly went to several Atlantic Bank ATM branches countrywide between December 2017, and January 2018, and, using stolen international credit cards to fraudulently withdraw as much as 100 thousand dollars - maybe more.

All 3 were taken before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford today, where Lionel Rodriguez was arraigned on 29 counts of theft from ATM's in Belize and Ladyville. Belen Hernandez was charged with 23 counts of theft, and her husband, Joscan Hernandez, was charged with 3 counts. Senior Magistrate Frazer remanded them to the Belize Central Prison until August.

This is the second set of charges that they are facing in connection with the theft from the Atlantic Bank. Back on April 25, the lead investigator, Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino, had to tell the Corozal Magistrate that 13 weeks after they were arrested, the cops had no formal evidence against them. Those first of charges were dismissed, and new charges were brought against them that same day. These new charges from today are for additional counts of theft.
