Police are reporting tonight that one of their own knocked down and killed a civilian in the Toledo District.
Early this morning, Police Corporal Alexander Salam, a 40 year-old officer attached to the Belmopan Police Station, was driving a Government issued, F-150 pick-up truck. He was on the San Antonio Road, and somewhere at around 5 and a half miles, he hit 69 year-old Selvin Bahadur, a resident of Eldridge-ville.
He rushed Bahadur to the PG Hospital but the senior citizen had multiple, very serious body injuries and he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Salam has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
