PM Speaks On KREMANDALA Impasse
posted (June 19, 2018)
When we spoke to the Prime Minister earlier today he gave us his thoughts on the KREMANDALA media organization's allegations that BTL is unfairly refusing to run ads on any of their media outlets. He told us that the KREMANDALA is not the only media house feeling the loss of BTL advertisements...

"Of course, I think you are aware of the allegations being made by the Kremandala compound in terms of BTL pulling ads from the entire organization itself as a means as to punish the organization for its opinions against the current administration. What are your thoughts, if any, on that, sir?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow - Prime Minister
"I don't think that's true. Somebody showed me a paper last week in which the Amandala was lambasting BTL and in the middle of the paper there was a full page add from BTL. I believe that it is as the bosses at BTL have said that they are moving towards social media as their primary form of advertisement or of advertising. And that is happening all over the world. Certainly the print media is having a warm time. Take for example the fact of the Guardian Newspaper, the party newspaper of the UDP, which is in government. They were complaining for weeks, not an add from BTL. So I don't think it was aimed at the Amandala in particular. It is just a function of the change to try to keep abreast of technology that's so rapidly moving and trying to ensure that the company is positioned to get the best bang for its buck and the way to do that obviously is to go the route of social media advertising, digital advertising."

BTL has said in a statement, quote, "With more and more of our customers getting their news online, newspapers are facing challenges to adapt and harness the opportunities presented by digital disruption."
