New Transfer Station For South

A new garbage transfer station will be built in Placencia and Punta Gorda. The construction falls under the Solid Waste Management Project 2. Here is more from the official signing.

"Today we just concluded the signature of the contract for infrastructure work under the solid waste management project 2. We sign the contract for the construction of a transfer station in Placencia and in Punta Gorda and also the closure of dump sites in those 2 locations."

"Solid waste management project 2 is a continuation of solid waste management project 1. Solid waste management project 1 saw the improvement of solid waste in the western corridor, the central part of the country and this solid waste management project 2 now seeks to extend solid waste management services to the north and to the south."

The project will cost $3.1 million Belize dollars. Under this same project - transfer stations will also be built in Corozal, Orange Walk, and Dangriga.
