There was a robbery this morning in downtown San Pedro. It happened at the office of the Insurance Corporation of Belize and Nationwide Cash Express. At 8:00 am sharp, just as the office had opened, an armed robber appeared and held up four staff in the Nation Wide Cash Express area. He got $8,000.00 dollars from the cashier and ran off. All told, it lasted two minutes.
The branch manager stresses that there were no customers there, and no one was injured.
Police have detained 1 suspect and are reviewing security footage. Management stresses that it is in the process of increasing our security protocols nationally. It adds, quote, "ICB has been serving the Belizean public for 36 years and plan to continue doing so in the years to come." End quote.
