He was accused of murder - but eventually convicted of manslaughter, for killing a male doctor who was allegedly demanding sex from him. And tonight, Dwayne Davis should be breathing a sigh of relief. Today in court he was sentenced to 14 years for manslaughter. But, he will only serve 7 because Justice Adolph Lucas subtracted the 6 years he has spent on remand and another year because he pleaded guilty.
In 2012, thirty-seven year old Davis killed Dr. Ivan Garcia, a Guatemalan at the Doctor's apartment in Belama Phase 1 - where Davis had spent the night. He was strangled and bludgeoned the Doctor on his head with a can of beets - after, the Doctor - allegedly - would not relent in his demands for sex. Davis was represented by attorney Bryan Neal while the Crown was represented by Crown Portia Ferguson.
