Mob Metes Out Terminal Justice To Machete Wielding Marauder
posted (June 21, 2018)
A village mob in Silk Grass killed a man after he chopped two residents and tried to sexually assault a woman.

It happened at around 1:00 this morning in that southern village. Salvadorean and resident of the village, Rene Godoy barged into a home and started chopping the male residents, while sexually assaulting a 32 year old female. That mayhem woke up the neighborhood and that's when the mob went for the machete wielding marauder. Police told us more today about the violent, ultimately, deadly standoff:...

ACP Joseph Myvette, HNCIB
"What the police received is that he had entered a home shortly around 1 am and he appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol where one person was assaulted with a machete and he attempted to sexually assault a female. In the process of her calling for assistance, a male person who is her stepfather responded and he received chop wounds and one of his fingers was severed from his right hand in the process."

"The other person who was chopped, received chop to the head, the neck and his back. He too was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital. Police conducted searches in the village where this male person was located on the balcony of a second floor building where in the process of persuading him to come down, stones and bottles were thrown at the police and villagers. He was eventually brought down and subdued and in the process he received some facial injuries and was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where the other two persons who had received chop wounds were being attended to and some one hour and a half later, he succumb to his injuries whilst inside the compound of the Southern Regional Hospital. His name was later learnt to be Rene Godoy, 30 year old Salvadoran construction worker of Silk Grass Village."

"Mr. Myvette, you talked about this perpetrator being subdued. Can you specifically say of he was subdued by the villagers who were chasing after his with the police officers? Or by the police officers themselves?"

ACP Joseph Myvetts, HNCIB
"I believe he was subdued by both the police officers and the villagers."

Police have not decided how they will assess criminal culpability for his death - they would only say that both a criminal and an internal investigation is ongoing.
