Two men were killed in a fatal traffic accident last night. It happened between miles one and two on the Placencia Road where a Mack dump truck had shut down on the road. But, the truck wasn't unto the shoulder, half of it was still across the road - and the driver allegedly didn't have on any lights, nor had he put any warnings on the highway.
20 year old Alex Duncan, and 28 year old Mauricio Palma came riding along on two separate small motorbikes and didn't see the Mack truck occupying half of the land of oncoming traffic. They collided into the truck and the result was fatal, double fatal:

"Upon arrival they saw a dump truck type vehicle parked on the road side and they also saw 2 separate motorcycles and 2 individuals. One of the individual appeared to have been motionless. They were both taken to the Southern Regional Hospital where on arrival both were pronounced to be dead."
"From the investigation we have learnt that the truck may have experience some mechanical problems and a tyre issue causing the driver of the vehicle to have left the vehicle on the side of the highway parked without leaving any indicators or indication to indicate to motorist that the vehicle was there and the 2 cyclist were riding their motorcycles when they ran up into the rear of the said vehicle, resulting in their injury and subsequent death. The police are currently preparing charges for the driver of that vehicle and he is being charged for causing death by careless conduct. Normally when vehicles are on the road side in such a state, they would put things to indicate that there is an obstruction ahead, but nothing was done and the vehicle lights were not on, nothing to have indicate that the vehicle was there."

"Was there a reason for this oversight? Perhaps he had just shut down or something and he never had time to prepare the road."

"Well I don't know are his reasons, but as far as we are concern is his actions has resulted in the death of 2 individuals and so we are proceeding where the law is concern with charges against him and it will be a matter for him to defend in court."
Duncan died on the spot while Mauricio Palma succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Edwin Rene Montoya was formally arrested and charged with (2) counts of Causing Death by Careless Conduct.
