Seawell Suit
posted (June 21, 2018)
2 weeks ago, we told you how Mark Seawell, one of the 2 Seawell brothers who successfully fought his extradition to the United States, is suing the Government for unlawful imprisonment for the 6 and a half years he spent in jail.

His case was called up for a hearing before Justice Shona Griffith today. Seawell and his attorney, Anthony Sylvestre, presented themselves before the court, along with the government's attorney, for what was scheduled as a hearing of the case. The two sides already made written submissions and so the judge adjourned it while she compiles their submissions. The date of the next hearing is July 5.

As we told you, Seawell, in his lawsuit, is claiming that the state unfairly imprisoned him for 6 and a half years, while he waited to so see how the extradition proceedings against him would go.

Those proceedings failed when the attorneys found the fatal flaw in the in the paperwork, and were able to convince the Chief Justice that Seawell should be set free.

We keep following his lawsuit.
