Another Dies On Motorbike
posted (June 22, 2018)
Last night we told you about two men on motorbike who died when they crashed into a truck on the side of the Placencia road.

Well tonight there are three more dead to report - and all of them on motorbikes.

The first happened last night at around 9:00 - exactly 24 hours after the double fatal on the Placencia road and less than three miles away just outside of Santa Cruz Village.

Victor Manuel Martinez was on a motorbike heading back to his home in Steadfast Village after attending a relative's graduation. Martinez collided with a Toyota 4Runner driven by Can Jian Chen, who was going in the opposite direction.

Martinez died on the scene and Chen was taken into police custody for investigation. Today we traveled South to speak to Martinez' family about the incident...

Daughter
"He was kind and caring and a loving father. Can't complain about him."

Daughter
"I think that he didn't deserve to die like that, because he was a good father and grandpa. All my kids grew up with him. Right now that he has passed away I am worried because he was the one who use to take care of all of us and now without him, I don't know what will happen."

Reporter
"In terms of how the family will move on, what are you guys planning to live on without him?"

Daughter
"We are not sure. It's difficult. 5 years ago we buried our sister. 3 years ago we buried our little brother and now it's my father. I mean we are really going through a lot of things."

Chen was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution and a blood sample was taken from him.
