Some Background To Mob Murder In Silk Grass
posted (June 22, 2018)
Yesterday we told you about a mob murder in the Stann Creek district. According to reports, Silk Grass resident Rene Godoy sexually assaulted and chopped a father and daughter in their Silk Grass home. The commotion caught the attention of the neighbors who quickly formed a mob and attacked Godoy. In an attempt to escape Godoy climbed to the second floor of the home, but was subdued by the mob, severely beaten and eventually saved by police - only to die at the Southern Regional Hospital. Today Godoy's brother, Moeses - who also lives in Silk Grass, told us about how he found out about the incident and how he responded...

Voice of: Moeses Godoy- Brother of the Deceased
"Around 2:30 I saw my phone had like 8 or 10 calls. So, I got frightened and so I told my lady that there was so much call, let's see what happened. Then I answered the last two calls. So, one of them was a sister member of the church, she called me and said hurry, hurry because your brother, the police and the amount of people from the village…it is killing, it is killing. So, I told my girl that I am going. I hurried out of my bed; I went as fast as I could. I hurried and went to the back of the village because they have a place back there that they call the Indian Village. On my pick-up I took like 2 minutes to reach the police station. Then, when I passed the police station, a little more to the North, I saw the police truck coming back from there. So, I see that it come back and went straight to the police station. So, I turned back my truck and went way into the police station where the police truck parked. So, when I parked at the place there, I saw my brother at the back of the truck."

Godoy told us that his brother was severely injured and bloodied in the back of that police truck. He succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.
