K-9 Cop Shot a Machete Man
posted (June 27, 2018)

A police officer shot a man in Camalote on Monday.  From what we have heard it started with a family dispute - and ended with Corporal Luis Matute shooting a man who he claims was advancing on him with a machete.

It happened at around 6:30, when 44 year old Truman Parham, allegedly approached Matute with a machete.  Matute was surrounded by his family and fired a warning shot. But, he says Parham would not back down, so he shot him in the shoulder and body.  Parham then ran off to a nearby pasture and disappeared.

Parham got someone to take him to the Western Regional Hospital where he is listed in a stable condition and under police guard.

Police say the confrontation stems from an incident the previous day where two men were detained, and Parham is a relative of one of them.
