Teenager Shot Down In City
posted (June 29, 2018)
Belize City has been enjoying a break from the gun murders for the last few weeks, but that peace was disturbed last night with the cruel killing of 17 year-old Warren Rudon.

It happened at 7:40 last night, when the teenager was walking on Lovely Lane. Reports to 7News are that Rudon was his way back from a shop, and he was going towards the "Jungle" area when a man ambushed him and shot him in the chin.

This happened right down the street from a police checkpoint on Pickstock Street, but the cops could only rush him to the KHMH.

Today, we found his grieving family at his Oleander Street home, and his cousin spoke with us off-camera. She told us that the family doesn't know much about his killing:

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"To be honest we don't know exactly, but we do know he goes over that side to cool his brains and to hang out with friends and that's all we know at this point."

Reporter
"Was he the type of person who had friends who you guys never really approved of or did he have anybody that he had any issues with that would want to try to hurt him?"

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"Not that we know of."

Reporter
"So in this particular situation, where do you all think he exactly was going on Lovely Lane?"

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"Right there, just to hang out with friends."

Reporter
"Are these friends' people who may have issues with other people in the streets?"

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"Nothing that we know about."

Reporter
"Give us an idea of what Warren was like in terms of his personality, because we know that you guys are grieving and he has a family that loves him and is missing him dearly."

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"You can go on and on with his name. He is humor, he has a temper, but he is just loving, caring, always there for you, always willing to do anything. He only messes with you if you mess with him. He is always running jokes and always making you smile. He never makes you cry. That's just him."

Reporter
"What's the biggest memory or the memory that comes quickly to mind of something Warren did that you all will remember him for?"

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"His Mango Creek stories about his dorey."

Reporter
"What about his dorey?"

Voice of: Jaslyn Jones, Cousin of Deceased
"He would go on and on with his dorey. He loves swimming, dorey - everything with his dorey you will hear about it. He and his grandpa made this dorey and that's his story for life."

For Rudon's family, old wounds were re-opened with his killing. They are still mourning the death of his uncle 31 year-old Daniel Anderson, who was shot and killed last year October at Bismark Club.
