Sunday Showdown Between Cycling Federation and “B-Cat”
posted (June 29, 2018)
A showdown is brewing in the cycling community over the suspension of elite rider Brandon Cattouse - and it will come to a head in 36 hours.

Cattouse has tested positive for a banned substance and been suspended by NADO, the National Anti Doping Organization. He's serving a provisional suspension for that.

But, as we told you last night, his attorney Hector Guerra has gotten a Supreme Court injunction against the Cycling Federation and the National Anti Doping Organization of Belize forcing them to allow Cattouse to ride in Sunday's National Road Championship. The ex parte injunction reads, quote, "the defendants are restrained…from preventing… (Cattouse's) registration or participation (in the)…the National Road Championship."

Now, while that's what the court says, tonight, we are told the Federation is considering postponing this race until after next week Tuesday when the injunction is argued in the Supreme Court.

Now, postponing the National Road Championship is no minor matter, but the Federation fears that if it allow Cattouse to ride - it could end up getting disqualified as a body by allowing a suspended rider to participate in a UCI sanctioned event.

No decision on whether the race will ride will be made until tomorrow.
