There was a home invasion and vehicle theft in the King's Park area of the city this weekend - and it has shaken up that affluent neighborhood. On Saturday morning at 1:00 am, well known florist Soli Arguelles was awakened by a light in her kitchen that kept coming on and off. She went to see what it was and the 72 year old got the shock of her life when she encountered two armed men prowling in her house. Police told us more:..

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Eastern Division
"Mrs. Solangel Arguelles, a 72 year old of 61 Baymen Avenue reported to police that sometime around or between the hours of one and two a.m., she was in her room asleep and when she noticed the light in the kitchen went on and after a couple seconds it went off. She believed it was her husband and she got up and was seated on her bed when two masked individuals entered her bedroom. She indicated that both person were armed at the time they entered the room. They held her down and demanded money. They inquired about a safe and she led them to where the safe was and she showed them. They got the safe, they tied her up and left her in the room and she heard as if the house was being ransacked. They re-entered the room where she was and they asked her for the keys for the gate. She directed them to those keys as well and shortly after she heard the engine for a vehicle starting. Checks that they made in the house they discovered that cell phones were missing and some jewelry valuing about a hundred and fifty dollars and a vehicle, a Volkswagen Amarok; that vehicle was discovered in the Belmopan area shortly after. The vehicle was processed and the investigation continues."

"The group I think they were referring to were the groups in regards to the robberies. This seems to be another . They had entered business places. This is another angle in which they are going from business places in regards to people actual homes. So the modus operandi seems to be different."

No one was hurt, and no one has been detained.
