posted (July 3, 2018)
At the start of the news, A jury of 7 women and 2 men retired to their private quarters to deliberate on a verdict in the trial of 43 year-old Rudolph Smith Jr., aka "Tubba". He stood trial for rape and aggravated burglary.

The victim, who was 16 years-old at the time, testified in the trial that in the early morning hours of November 23, 2011, she was awakened from sleep when she felt someone on her back. She opened her eyes and saw that it was the accused, and that he had a knife in her hand. She said that the man told her to shut up, or else, he would hurt her sister who was in the same room. She then told the court that the accused then raped her at knife point. She said that about 10 minutes into this horrific ordeal, he then got up and left through the backdoor. Her sister and her mother also testified in the trial and corroborated her testimony.

In Smith's defense, he gave a dock statement denying that he committed the offenses for which is accused. He told the court that he had an alibi witness to call on his behalf, but the witness was unable to make it to court. He is unrepresented, and Crown Counsel Killeru Awich is prosecuting the case.

In September of 2012, Smith was convicted of aggravated burglary and sexual assault before the then Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith. He was found guilty of abusing a 15 year-old girl, and the Chief Magistrate sentenced him to serve time in jail to a total of 15 years.
