The north of Belize has been going through some crime scares after the landing of so many drug planes earlier this year - and the current kidnapping of a San Narciso businessman.
That's why there was concern in Patchakan when more than one man pounced on Ines Medina when he got home on Friday night. He told CTV-3 his story:
Ines Medina, Victim
"Around 10:30-11:00 on Friday night, I reached home and came out of my vehicle when someone came and attacked me from behind and started punching me in my face. So i tried to cover my face with my hand, but the person continued punching me on my chin and both eyes. I managed to get out of the vehicle and came around here and then I felt weak."
"Shortly after my son came with his vehicle and the person who attack me heard the noise then they left me alone."
Villagers are concerned because they say a group of men have been terrorizing the village, and breaking into homes.
Patchakan is on the way to one of the major contraband crossings, known as "Estero."
