San Isidro Cop Concerns
posted (July 4, 2018)

There’s a cry against police from southern Belize - where a family says they were victimized by criminals, and now police refuse to do anything about it.

Last week Thursday in San Isidro village, two men armed with machete and gun appeared at the Pop house and tied up a 15 year old resident, pointed a gun to his head and beat him.

The family says Bella Vista Police didn’t act or appear interested in the report, so they were forced to go to the Independence Police Station where, again, they claim, police refused to take the report.

They say it ended with the 15 year old being remanded - while his attackers walked free.

The family says they have taken complaints as far as the professional standards branch in Belmopan, but to no avail - because police seem disinterested.

We could not get a comment from the police press office today.
