New Fortune Restaurant, on King's Street, Belize City, was the target of another armed robbery last night. It all unfolded at a few minutes to 10:00 - and was over in thirty terrifying seconds. Emmanuel Pech reviewed the video from the security camera:
You can see the gunman casually entering the restaurant while waiting for his two accomplices before pulling out what looks like a 9 mm pistol. He brandishes the weapon in front of the counter threatening owner Xinhui Zhang and the workers while his accomplices go behind the counter to help themselves to approximately $700 bz in cash.
The gunman, seems to be in his teen years, appears uneasy as he looks around, clearly afraid of getting caught
He even begins to withdraw to the door before coming back for one last threat that gives way for his colluders to escape before bolting for the door himself.
One of the Chinese cooks dashes behind them with what appears to be a cleaver and tosses it at them, clearly out of frustration of having been the victims of another armed robbery- the second in 5 months.
The three perpetrators made their escape on a black SUV that was waiting for them on King's Street. Police Investigations continue.
