A 60 year old American is still clinging to life after he was shot in the head yesterday. Cliff Kirk was the victim of a well organized home invasion at his remote residence 10 and a half miles north of San Pedro Town on the west side of the island. Four masked men docked up at his home on jet ski's At 11:30 in the morning and him - and one of them shot him in the head. They then went into the house and stole a 9 millimeter pistol, a shotgun, and a briefcase with an undisclosed amount of cash.
It was about an hour before they could get him to the town polyclinic, and then to the San Pedro Airstrip for a flight to airlift him to Belize City where he was admitted in a critical condition.
Reports are now that plans are being made to airlift him to the United States for treatment as early as tonight.
Kirk is a US army veteran and his wife, Linda is a retired nurse. His self-styled home, the Casa Brisas sits on a three acre property, with its own marina. It can only be accessed from the sea.
