Tonight, 29 year-old Justin Lemoth is at the Belize Central Prison awaiting a verdict from Justice Adolph Lucas after he stood trial for the murder of 17 year-old Richard Waight Jr.
The killing happened in April, 2014, in Hattieville.
Senior Crown Counsel Shanice Lovell called 9 witnesses to testify against Lemoth. Her chief witness told the court that it all started with a street brawl over a young person being punched. That escalated to murder when Lemoth allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Waight in the chest.
In his defense, Lemoth gave a dock statement that someone threw a rock at him, and he intended to scare the man away. But, he then felt threatened, and he made a stabbing motion to defend himself.
Lemoth is being represented by attorney Leslie Hamilton. Justice Lucas has reserved judgment until July 20.
