A store in the Corozal Free Zone was burglarized sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The thieves got lots of money - but the news is how they tunneled into the store, right through the zinc siding. The burglars burrowed a hole about 3 feet high and 2 feet wide in the wall, enough for them to sneak in and make off with nearly $14 thousand dollars in goods and cash.
According to police the culprits stole 55 thousand pesos, 500 US dollars and 100 bz dollars. They also helped themselves to an assorted amount of clothing amounting to around 60 thousand pesos. The estimated value of the stolen goods is $13,877 Belize dollars. Police have made no arrests.
