The Rock Park on Princess Margaret Drive near the sea in Belize City is a favourite attraction for photo opportunities and fishers. But, thanks to two area residents, it's also getting a complete clearing and overhaul.
They've pruned the park and removed the thorny plants - in the hopes of creating less safe spaces for criminals to lurk - while also making the space more child friendly.
It's a privately sponsored initiative - but the park was long upkept by area resident Steffi Lupp. Lupp has gone back to Germany and Daniel Arguelles who bought her home is now spearheading this effort. He assures us that the remaining trees and plants will re-grow and fill out the open spaces. The park is and remains an area for public use and enjoyment.
