No Proof Of Arson At Coconut Leo
posted (July 10, 2018)
In yesterday's news we told you about the fire that burnt down the house of a San Pedro resident commonly known as "Coconut" Leo. It occurred on Sunday night in the San Pedrito Area. The islander said he left his home to go and socialize with some friends and on his way back he found his house engulfed in flames. As we mentioned in yesterday's report, the islander insists that someone set his house on fire. Today the fire department responded to those claims and gave more details based on their preliminary investigation.

Orin Smith- Station Officer, Bz City Fire Department
"On arrival at the scene, a 12 by 8 plywood structure that was elevated 3 feet above ground was on fire. A second plywood structure situated about 3 feet from the wooden structure, the west face was also on fire. Following a brief size up, the fire service went into operation, extinguishing the fire. As a result of the fire, the 12 by 8 structure was destroyed and the west face of the adjacent structure was damaged by fire. The fire originated at the center of the building; the cause is still under investigation."

Emanuel Pech - Reporter
"Is there any suspicion of foul play involved in this incident?"

Orin Smith
"At this time, no we do not suspect foul play. But nothing is ruled out until the investigation is concluded."

Although authorities don't suspect any foul play at this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown, as the house did not have any electricity. Some neighbors, however, suggested that the fire might have been caused by a live faulty electrical wire that hangs over the structure and feeds electricity to the adjacent building.
