posted (July 16, 2018)
23 year old Belize City resident Nyrere Parchue was shot in the head. He's the messenger we told you about on Friday that tried to get back his envelope from an armed robber. When we left you on Friday police weren't sure if his head injury was from a bullett or a fall to the pavement. But, Doctors confirmed that he was shot to the head - police told us how he survived. The story begins with the robbery:

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"A male person by the name of Nyrere Parchue had just picked up some deliveries from the vital statistics and was riding to Pitts Law firm where he is employed and whilst crossing from Freetown towards the monument flags, he was approached by a male person who held him at gunpoint and demanded that he handover a folder he had in his possession. He complied by handing over the folder and the male person made his way towards the flag monument. Nyrere Parchue set chase at the male person. They traveled in front of Matron Roberts [clinic] towards St. Joseph Street and whilst reaching in front of BAHA building, the male person fired at shot at Nyrere injuring him to the head. Fortunately he is admitted at this moment in a stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital."

"The difficulty in determining whether or not ot was a gunshot, was because he had fallen to the StreetSide and he had received a large cut wound to the head. The doctor was unable to determine whether it was a gunshot or not. But after doing a cat scan and other x-ray on him, it was observed that he had a slug inside of his head."

"So its lodge in his brain?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"It's not inside his brain, in his skin and skull."

Reporter
"So his prognosis then isn't..."

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"The doctor is saying that he is recovering and is in a stable condition."

Parchue remains in a stable condition. Police have no suspects at this time.
