There was a fatal accident near Alta Vista village on the Hummingbird Highway this weekend. A Man on a motorbike was killed when he ran into a bus. Police told us more:..

"On Sunday, July 15th, shortly after 5:20 p.m., police responded to the scene of a road traffic accident between miles twenty and twenty-one on the Hummingbird Highway where upon arrival they observed a bus with its front left portion with damages, whilst on the other side of the highway a motorcycle was seen with extensive damages. Initial police investigation revealed that one Ian Hines was driving a bus from a south to north direction when upon reaching between miles twenty and twenty-one on the Hummingbird Highway he observed a motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction who overtook two vehicles and collided into the bus he was driving. He applied brakes but was unable to avoid the collision with the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist's name was learnt to be Albert Adelfonso, twenty-three-years-old of a Dangriga Town address who received severe head and body injuries and was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival."
