Preying On Pitter Street Residents
posted (July 19, 2018)
Late on Tuesday night in Belize City, Pitter Street residents Elias and Vilma Ramirez were held and gun and knife point by two men who had invaded their home. The men tied them up and burglarized their home.

Today, police told us that the couple, whose sole bread-winner is a taxi-driver, was taken advantage of because their door was left unlocked late in the night.

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"2 persons just entered their house from the main door which was opened and they held them at gunpoint and tie them up and a result they stole 2 cell phones, a silver ring and a gold watch. Quick police response to that incident lead to the recovery to one of the cell phones and one of the male persons that we believe was inside of the house was captured not far away from the incident. The husband is taxi driver. The female is a domestic and she works for herself at the residence. They are people that are just trying to survive. We suspect that they were passing in the immediate area. One of the guys that were detained is a resident of that area around there. So I believe that they were taken advantage as to who will be the target. Any normal people in the area would have been the target."

Police have detained two male minors who live in the neighborhood. They advise all residents in the area to secure their doors especially late at night.
