Armed Robbers Have Their Way In Coro

The recent spree of armed robberies in the city has also extended to Corozal. On Monday evening, four armed men wearing camouflage stormed into the Sanfa Construction Supply store and got off with an undisclosed amount of money. Police told us more today.

"Information was received that the Sanfa Construction Supplies Store located on San Andres Road, Corozal Town, was entered into by 4 armed men dressed in camouflage clothing who entered the store and demanded money. As a result an undisclosed amount of coins were stolen from the cashier, after which the assailants made good their escape into the nearby bushes. Police investigation into this matter is ongoing. We are following several leads, but at this time there are no named suspects."

So, that was Monday. And then, on Tuesday after 4:00, a gas station and convenience store was robbed at mile 69 on the Phillip Goldson Highway - which is in the Corozal District.

And the M-O of this one, mirrored the one in Corozal Town from a day earlier. Again, four armed men, this time in all black, stormed in and robbed the establishment. Here is what the police investigation has revealed so far.

"In formation was received of a robbery at a convenience store located around mile 69 on the Philip Goldson Highway, which is between Buena Vista and Santa Clara villages in a remote area. According to the information 4 armed men dressed in black clothing entered and demanded money from the cashier of the convenient store. Where an undisclosed amount of money was handed over and they then made good their escape into the nearby bushes."

"In respect to this incident, police are also following several leads."

"Is it possible that these 2 incidents are related given the fact that they are both in Corozal District?"

"We are looking at that possibility. The 2 incidents are miles apart and the assailants were differently dressed."

Police continue to investigate the sudden spike in robberies in the north.
