A Belizean businessman was busted on Tuesday night in Melchor with with drugs and illegal weapons in an operation conducted by Guatemalan authorities.
He is 33 year old Francisco Javier de la Ho Duarte, who was captured by police along with 43 year old Aolibama Oucialita Mengibar. Because he has property in Belize, we asked police today if they know anything about the incident and whether or not they have touched base with their Guatemalan counterparts:
Two AK 47's were found in their possession along with seventy five rounds of ammunition, three computers, twelve cellphones, two ounces of marijuana, over fourteen thousand quetzales, over two thousand Belize dollars, over one thousand US dollars and a few more cash in different currencies. We understand that de la Ho Duarte is a well known businessman from Benque Viejo.
