posted (July 20, 2018)
They say a dog is a man's best friend, but one elderly man from Albert Hoy Street will pay dearly for that friendship after his dog mauled a young girl.

72-year-old Mario Sandoval, a retiree of Albert Hoy Street is out on bail after being charged for "Kept unmuzzled ferocious dog at large". In April, his dog bit an 11 year-old student and dragged her on side walk. The girl, Clare Alamilla, was walking her 5 month old poodle, Ollie past Sandoval's home when his big dog allegedly rushed out of his gate and attacked the tiny poodle; she tried to protect it by throwing it in the bushes, and that's when the attacking dog clipped her arm and dragged the child down the sidewalk.

Alamilla was rescued by a next door neighbor who scared off the attacking dog picked her up and rushed her home. She was then taken to the KHMH where her injuries were classified as grievous harm.

In court, Sandoval was unrepresented and pleaded not guilty. He was offered bail of $500 and his next court date is set for September 27, 2018.
