Two More Murderers Get Bail
posted (July 20, 2018)
It used to never ever happen, but bail is now becoming commonplace for alleged murderers on remand.

Today, Twenty-four year old Travis Navarro - who has been on remand for 5 years - was granted $10,000 bail by Justice Antoinette Moore. He is accused of killing 21 year old Rajiv Gonguez in May 2013 on North Front Street by the Brown Sugar Marketplace in a Pathfinder.

Gonguez went into the market to pick up a neighbor and was ambushed by a killer on the way out. Gonguez was shot in his face and chest and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Police said Navarro was the shooter. Today he was offered and met bail of $10,000 on the condition that he attends the Supreme Court before Justice Marilyn Williams on September 18; that he reports to Belmopan Police Station every Tuesday and Friday; that he is not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses; and that he is not to be arrested and charged with any other offence while on bail. Navarro was represented by attorney Tricia Anderson. Crown Counsel Janelle Tillett represented the Crown.

Another alleged killer, 30 old Troy Hyde, charged with the murder of 26 year old Kareem "Robbery" Lopez was offered a bail of $15,000 today by Justice Moore.

Lopez, a notorious gang figure, was gunned down in January 2015. He had gone to buy food on Central American Boulevard and when he got out of his vehicle, a gunman shot him multiple times. It was a battle over turf in the Jane Usher area.

Hyde's bail was granted on similar conditions as Navarro. He was also represented by Tricia Anderson.
