Kills The Pain Of Prison With Bail
posted (July 20, 2018)
Last week Thursday, we told you about the 3 persons who police arrested and charged in Cayo, after they were busted with over 8 kilos of the highly addictive pain medication, Oxycodone. Well tonight, one of the accused is out on bail after applying to the Supreme Court.

He's Ricardo Chanek, a taxi driver of Benque Viejo Town, and his attorney, Ronell Gonzalez, made the bail application on his behalf this morning. After hearing from Crown Counsel Janelle Tillett about possible objections coming from the DPP's Office, Justice Antoinette Moore granted him bail of $15,000 with the conditions that he attends all the adjournments of the drug trafficking case, that he reports to the Benque Viejo Police Station every Friday, that he does not interfere with the prosecution's witnesses, and that he is not to be re-arrested for any other offenses while out on bail.

As we reported, police from Spanish Lookout were patrolling in the community, and while on Riverside Street, they came across Chanek's taxi. He was in the vehicle along with Justin Toralla, and Honduran Sophia Sorto. Nothing illegal was found in the taxi, but when the officers searched nearby, they found a knapsack stuffed with hundreds of parcels of pills, which tested positive as oxycodone. It is a controlled drug, and so they were all jointly charged with drug trafficking.
