And while that shooting happened early Sunday morning, by Sunday night - another female was shot - possibly in an act of retaliation. At 8:15, 21 year old Monica Ferguson was at a home on Arlington Drive standing in the doorway while her boyfriend stood on the verandah. A man ran into her yard and is believed to have fired directly at her. It could be a case of a woman being targeted because a woman and little girl had been shot 16 hours earlier. "Last night just after 8:30pm. This happened at Arlington Drive. A female was along with her common-law-husband outside in their yard when they were approached by a male person. The female identified herself as Monica Ferguson. A 21 year old Belizean from #24 Faber's Road. She had mentioned to police that she was on the verandah whilst her common law along with other friends were on the other side of the verandah socializing when they observed a male person just entering the yard and firing several shots at her direction causing the injuries to her, to her left and right ankle. She is admitted in a stable condition at this moment."

"Was she the intended target?"

"What we understand from her, yes we do believe that she was the intended target."

"Has she given any kind of information to indicate why it was that the gunman chose her out of the crowd?"
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"That is something we are looking at, but definitely what we have gathered so far is pointed at indeed she was the target. It's a concern and it's a trend and it is something that we know that the life is that it is sad that if I cannot get the person who I want, I will get the person who is close to that person and that is what its pointing to the female being injured now may become the target."
Ferguson received a gunshot wound to the left ankle and a cut wound to the right foot. Six 9 millimeter expended shells were recovered at the scene.
