Woman Shot In PG

At the top of the news, we told you about the weekend shooting which has left a 3-year-old baby girl hospitalized in a critical condition, and her mother recovering from a gunshot injury to her her hand. And then there was another woman who was shot twice to her feet while she was standing on her common-law husband's verandah.

All that happened in the city, but a fourth woman was also shot, this one in Punta Gorda.

She's Renita Jackson, and police say that she was standing on Church Street in PG on Friday night at around 9 o'clock. She was in the company of 2 other persons, when 2 men rode up on bicycle and opened fire on them. She was injured to her right hip.

Here's what police had to say about that case:

"On Friday 20th July, shortly before 9pm Punta Gorda police responded to an information of a shooting incident at the corner of Church Street in Punta Gorda Town. Initial police investigations revealed that Renita Jackson along with two other persons were standing at the street corner shortly before 9p.m. when they were approached by two male persons riding on separate bicycles who fired several shots in their direction, one of which caught Miss Jackson in her right hip. Police have since conducted an investigation and have since arrested and charged Andel Avilez, twenty-three-year-old laborer of Punta Gorda Town and Luis Barrias, eighteen-year-old laborer of Punta Gorda Town for two counts of attempted murder, two counts of use of deadly means of harm and one count of wounding. So far the weapons used have not been recovered. Police investigation into this matter is still ongoing"
