Attempted Robbery In Downtown Area
posted (July 25, 2018)

There was an attempted robbery today, near downtown Belize City.  It happened on Dean Street at the main office for BPMS - or Belize Package and Mail Service Company.

That's right next to Channel 7, but the company employees wouldn't discuss what happened.  All we know is that two robbers went in on bicycles, and ended up running off and leaving the bikes behind.  They did not steal anything - and police - who have blanketed the downtown area for the past four weeks - responded in large numbers.  We saw four police mobiles there at one point.

Since the Hofius robbery in May, police have deployed a large number of police fixed and stationary patrols to the downtown area - but they work principally on Albert Street.  This happened half a block away on Dean street.
