What Is Moya Doing in Mesop?
posted (July 26, 2018)
And she's not just the girl guides guru, former Belize City Mayor Moya has recently been raising eyebrows with reports that she has a political interest in the Mesopotamia division.

But, it's going to be tough since Moya is now UDP persona non grata - and the PUP seem to have no interest in her as a candidate. So what's she doing in Mesopotamia? Today we caught up with her at the children's business fair and asked if this event was a preview of her political campaign. Here's what she had to say:

Zenaida Moya- Former Bz City Mayor
"Well for me this isn't about politics, I've always helped St. Ignatius School in my different capacities. I've always been a part of St. Ignaciuss School. St. Ignacios School is of Mesopotamia."

Reporter
"But I mean the rumours that after your fallout with the UDP, you had aspirations of running against the UDP under the PUP banner. Are those true?"

Zenaida Moya
"What I will tell you is that whatever fallout that they may have said, I have been focused always in ensuring that I am a part of this area. I continue to attend St. Ignacios Church, I continue to help this area and I will continue to help this area. This is where I have been all my life. If one day I get to represent this area they will know that the people of mesopotamia will be at a higher level. Because they and their children will be successful productive citizens."

Reporter
"But I mean, I'm not talking about one day. I am talking about 2020, specifically. Are you going to contest it? Are bidding for the constitution?"

Zenaida Moya
"We are focusing on this particular children's business fair. So, that is what we will be focusing on. I want all efforts, all spotlights to be on the children not about me."

Reporter
"It is, but I mean, speaking frankly, yes or no? are you running this 2020?"

Zenaida Moya
"Let us focus on the children today."

Reporter
"So you haven't spoken with the PUP about the possibilities to run?"

Zenaida Moya
"Let us focus on the children."

We note that Moya is a former student of St. Ignatius.
