5 Guns In One Empty Lot?
posted (July 30, 2018)
But, police struck a blow against the gangs on Friday when they made an incredible find: five guns and 32 pounds of weed in an empty lot on Nurse Findley Crescent. That's pretty amazing police work, but, today our news director Jules Vasquez asked the Commander of Operations, Deputy Compol Chester Williams if the story of five guns in one lot doesn't somewhat stretch the limits of credibility:...

DCP Chester Williams, Commander - Operations
"On Friday last, again, through our police operations in the Port Loyola area, we were able to conduct search of an abandoned lot and that search resulted in the discovery of 5 firearms namely; 1-.38 revolver and 4 9mm pistols. We also recovered 36 pounds of high grade marijuana."

"Sir, allow me to introduce a counter-narrative as it might be called. I do not (based on information) believe that 5 guns were found in any lot. It's not consistent with the behavior of criminals. There has never been 5 found property in one lot. 2, the other day on Reggae Street is the most you will find. I am saying that what actually happened here is someone was caught with a large amount of marijuana, maybe 2 times 36 pounds and as the police are in the habit of doing they struck a deal. We will not charge you, but you have to come up with something. A tradeoff."

DCP Chester Williams, Commander - Operations
"Sometime I wonder Jules where you get your trend of thoughts from and you tend to pull things from out of the sky and paint it as it is the reality. But I will categorically refute your statement or your comment and the what has given to the police is what actually occurred."

"5 guns in a lot of Nurse Findley Crescent."

DCP Chester Williams
"Yes, Jules."

Reporter
"Would you accept that in the past it has been the practice of the police to trade drug bust for guns. If you come with a gun, you get off the drug charge."

DCP Chester Williams
"It is not in every circumstances. I know that maybe that has been done in the past, but the Commissioner has given a directive that there is to be no deal to be struck with anybody."

Ballistics tests are being performed on the guns.
