Fearless Gas Station Owner Fights Off Armed Robbers
posted (July 30, 2018)
There's a pair of terrifying gas station attempted armed robberies to report tonight - and both were caught on security camera. The most recent happened this morning at the CP Gas station at half a mile on the Phillip Goldson Highway - across from Courts.

Around 7:30, the two would-be thieves, stormed into the gas station convenience store of with their faces completely uncovered; one of them armed with a handgun.

But, one of the family owners wasn't just going to give in so easily - he put up a mighty and fearless fight - as seen on this video. The just plain chancy robbers ganged up on him and beat him down. Still, he grappled with them and foiled the robbery - even if he did take a beating for it. His fearlessness paid off because the would be-thieves left with nothing. Police told us more:

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"Just before 8:30, police responded to a call at CP Gas Station location at one and half miles on the Phillip Goldson Highway, where the manager reported that he was inside of the building when two male persons entered, one was armed with a firearm. As result he struggled with one of the male persons. During the struggle he was hit several times to the head causing an injury to his head. Fortunately nothing was stolen from the gas station."

Reporter
"He is a brave person. Would you advise on that course of action? We know that people are tired of being taken advantage of. That place has been robbed many times."

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"Well if it was me, the money can be made anytime, but my life cannot come back."

As for the owner and manager who put up the fight - he was taken to the hospital for the beating and pistol whipping that he took to his head. One of the thieves also pushed down his elderly mother.
