Driver Can Expect Upgraded Charges In Hit & Run Death
posted (July 31, 2018)
Last night we told you how hit and run victim, 31 year old Armando Uitz had died from injuries he sustained in an accident on Saturday evening.

Uitz was riding his bicycle on old College Road in Corozal Town, apparently on his way to visit his girlfriend. He was knocked down by an oncoming SUV, a Kia Sorento, which fled the scene. Police found it on Monday morning in Ranchito inside a garage. It was processed and then impounded at the police station.

Police have not officially charged the driver but the charges, apart from failing to stop and render aid, would now be expected to include manslaughter by negligence.

Uitz died yesterday afternoon at the KHMH in Belize City where he was being treated for severe head injuries.

Family members were in Belize City today to retrieve the body from the morgue, but they declined comment. They did tell us off camera that the family of the hit and run driver has not made any attempts to reach out to them to talk about funeral expenses or even just to express their condolences.

31 year old Armando Uitz is the oldest of 9 siblings. He was the father of a 7 year old son. His Funeral is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Corozal town.
