OW: Odetteā€™s Robber Caught
posted (August 6, 2018)
Orange Walk Police have made an arrest in the high stakes burglary of Odette's Home Center. As we told you last week, thieves came through the roof, tied up the security guard and then helped themselves to a bevy of electronics, including cell phones, tablets and laptop computers. At the end of it, they also took the DVR which captured the surveillance video. Police had an update:...

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"On Friday, based on information received police conducted a search at the home of Martin Mendoza on San Pedro Street in Orange Walk Town which resulted in the discovery of two cellular phones and two tablets. He was detained pending investigation. A further search of another home resulted in the discovery of two cell phones and other electronic equipment. These items were found to be the property of Odette's Store from where the aggravated burglary occurred on the 2nd August. Police have since arrested and charged Martin Mendoza for the crime of aggravated burglary and are seeking one other person in connection with this crime. This is an ongoing investigation and it will definitely result in the detention of more than that one other person that is being sought at this time."

"Is it the belief of the investigators that most of the items have been pawned of sold off already?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"We are looking at that possibility."

Police say Martin Mendoza is no stranger to them.
