7 Year Old Commits Suicide. Why?
posted (August 7, 2018)
There is a shocking suicide case out of Seine Bight where a 7 year old boy killed himself yesterday. The post mortem confirmed this as well. Now, we don't normally report on suicides, but this one is just so tragic, and unusual - that we had to find out what was behind it.

But, due to the sensitivity of suicide cases, we won't go into too much detail. Here's what Courtney Weatherburne found out when she went down south.

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
Almost every evening after 5, Antwone Marin and his uncle would either be out on the basketball court shooting some hoops, Or out on the field playing football.

On other days, little Antwone would come here to fish with his friends. He was a lively boy who enjoyed the outdoors.

Forson Ariola, Uncle
"He is a very fun kid, always playing, always joyful."

But now, that joy is gone. Antwone took his own life yesterday evening at his Seine Bight home. He, his sisters and their babysitter were at home at the time. Antwone shared an eerie message with the babysitter.

Voice of: Sister
"He told Ms. Gina that he is tired of living and then Ms. Gina ask him if he is crazy and he said he is not crazy, then he said he is tired of seeing ugly people, I tell him anywhere you go you will see ugly people and stop "eck" yourself because you are ugly too."

And what seemed to be a childish tease turned out to be serious. After that exchange, Antwone went into the room. After some time, his 10 year old sister went to check on him and found his lifeless body. The babysitter raced him over to a nearby wood work shed for help to resuscitate him but it was too late.

Forson Ariola, Uncle
"I received a phone call, I was at work around 4:45. I was pretty shocked, I didn't know what to do."

And everyone is stunned that a 7 year old boy would take his own life. But according to the family's report, it is exactly what happened and at this point there are no clear answers as to why he did it.

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"The babysitter or his sister didn't say that nothing happened, he wasn't harmed or nobody harmed him or anything, he killed himself?"

Forson Ariola, Uncle
"Yes, that is what they said, there is no sign of any foul play or anything like that. I am not quite sure what he, I mean at that young age what is going through his mind for him to think about doing something like that to himself and at such a young age."

"I am not quite sure if inside there are family issues along with my sister and her husband, I am not sure, that is between them, I am not sure the reason why he would do that to himself."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Were you very close to Antwone, did he ever tell you anything about what was going on in the home or?"

Forson Ariola, Uncle
"No ma'am, we are very close but he didn't tell me anything like that."

No previous warning, no clue that little Antwone would meet such an end. Just his chilling comment - a cry for help that no one listened to. Now his family is left devastated without him.

Forson Ariola, Uncle
"I will miss him definitely to tell the truth."

Antwone was in Standard 1 at the St. Alphonsus Primary School.

Police are calling it a "death investigation" and a post mortem shows the cause of death as "Asphyxia due to bronchopulmonary aspiration of stomach contents…."
