Since May, we’ve been reporting on The Lake Independence Resource Center, a youth facility that will also be a multipurpose building. The 4.66 million dollar building is part of the wider Youth and Community Transformation Project funded by the CDB. But when we visited today, construction seemed to be going at a snail’s pace, with only a handful of workers on site. We note that progress had been made, but it is unlikely that it will be ready for this month - which is when it was scheduled for completion. The contractor, "Wood, Brick and Stone” is widely viewed as a front for a UDP friendly builder who had a hard time with SIF on a previous project.
