Last night we told you about an apartment invasion that happened on Campos Avenue in the West Landivar area of Belize City. Two men with bandanas over their faces armed with a 9 millimeter pistol, knocked, and when a tenant opened the door, they barged in, punched her in the face and helped themselves to several pieces of jewelry and a laptop computer.
What we didn't know is that police were quick to make an arrest:

"Police quick response to the report led to the detention of a person known as Frank Smith. He was detained somewhere in the jungle area. Police conducted a search on him and they found several items that were later identified as property of Miss Rosa Zorilla. Not all the items that have been reported missing so far have been recovered by police."

"He is pending charges? He has been charged?"

"He was charged this morning for one count of aggravated burglary and one count of burglary, so far."

"Four apartments burglarized, so these men just walked up into the place just like that and went with people's stuff? Any advice for them."
ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well, it is something that we mention everytime. We advise the proprietors or household people that are inside of the buildings that you know that if you are inside of your house, it does not matter the time of the day but you must keep your area safe. Meaning, that if you have a burglar bar, lock up your burglar bar. And in this case, we understand that the burglar bar was left open for the main door. Always lock your door and do not open as anyone says or knock on your door. You need to confirm if indeed you know that person or try to inquire more about that person. That gives you enough time for you to either call the police or call a friend that is nearby before you open your door."
Smith hasn't been arraigned yet.
