Mother of 3 Stabbed To Death In the Street
posted (August 10, 2018)
A 33 year old mother of 3, Roxanne Pop, was stabbed to death by her ex-common law. It happened around 7:00 last night in front of the Boulevard Plaza in Belize City and was caught on surveillance camera.

Police have charged the ex-boyfriend, 44 year old Sandhill resident Noewelin Williams. Williams had been trying to convince Pop to get back with him but she didn't want to. That is what led to the ruthless attack. I spoke to Pop's family today and they say even though they knew that Williams was abusing Pop throughout their relationship, nothing could have prepared them for this tragic end. Here is that story.

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
What may have seemed like a couple's evening outing at the Boulevard Plaza was really a volatile situation that led to the death of Roxanne Pop.

According to the store attendants, Pop and her ex-boyfriend Noewellin Williams were sitting at one of these tables. They had ordered food and were talking for some time until they started to argue. It quickly escalated and Williams pulled out a knife and stabbed Pop about 8 times.

"A little before 7pm, I was doing my work when I heard a commotion outside, so I came out and I saw this guy at the door standing up with a knife and then he ran and then I ran outside and I saw a young lady on the ground, but she was holding her neck, but then I realize her guts was coming out of her and then I was yelling for someone to call the ambulance or 911."

But there was nothing anyone could do to save Pop. She didn't survive the gruesome attack. Now what could have triggered this deadly flare up? The information is that Williams wanted to get back with Pop after a 3 year separation but Pop refused and that sent him into a murderous rage. Pop's sister opened up to 7News about the years of abuse Pop had endured with Williams that now has ended in murder.

Vashty Pop, Sister
"This was a relationship that started out with abuse and then obviously ended with an abuse. They have been up and down for 12 years. They were separated for 3 years and for some reason he found her back. I don't know what he said to convince her even to speak to him, because an animal like him honestly don't even deserve a word from a woman and clarity I want to make is that she wasn't having a good time. It is was a good time, definitely it wouldn't have ended up that way. Also, everyone that knows him knows he is abusive, because he lives for long in PG where we are from. He lives that way on and off."

"You guys witnessed the abuse?"

Vashty Pop, Sister
"For a couple of years we witnessed it. For some reason for some women feel like it's hard to walk away from a relationship when they are being abused. Some women feel like they can't do better. Some women feels like there is no other option."

"Did Roxanne feel this way?"

Vashty Pop, Sister
"She definitely felt that way. Although with the support of love from family, there is nothing that can break that bond when you feel like you have kinds that connect or keep you with a person that is abusive."

It is a situation that many women face. While some get help and escape, others, like Pop don't make it like. Now her family has to find a way to heal from this pain.

Vashty Pop, Sister
"He actually just took everything from us. The last that these kids had, he took everything from them and I believe that God will take care of this and we will pray for him. As a family, like every other family grief, we are grieving. We are standing strong together as one. She will definitely be missed. She, as everyone around her work at home from PG here in Belize City, she is just a friendly person, outgoing. Always speaks her mind. Any way she goes she is the light. Her kids - we as a family will stick on their side and raise them and they mean everything to us."

Pop leaves behind 3 kids, 2 girls and 1 boy. Pop was originally from Punta Gorda. As you heard, Williams has been charged for murder.
