BTL’s Scholarships Going Strong
posted (August 10, 2018)
Since 1991 BTL has been offering full high school scholarships to deserving young students. And continuing the 27 year old tradition today, BTL welcomed 25 new students into the program with an award ceremony at the Raddison.

Here's what the company's CEO had to say to the recipients and their parents who attended:

Rochus Schreiber - CEO, BTL
"It is with gratitude and a humble spirit that we, as the largest operator in the country, have the opportunity, and we have also the obligation to help, and to provide and support the families in Belize, and provide support to deserving, young talented minds in their ongoing development, on a journey to become fully fledged members of our society. It's with great joy that we can offer 25 scholarships this year, which goes on top of almost 600 members of the Belizean society who have received the scholarships so far. Currently, we have over 80 student enrolled in the program, and every year, we'll continue to add more and more recipients to the scholarships that we offer."

Melany Bardalez - Recipient, BTL Scholarship
"I'm really happy. I'm so grateful I actually got this. It will help us because as the years go on, everything's getting more and more expensive, and with my brothers graduating from 4th form, it's going to be a huge struggle if we didn't get this."

Haziel Alaniz - Recipient, BTL Scholarship
"The first thing that came in our mind is that it would help us a lot, and especially me, that I'm going to college. I'm going to appreciate this because this will help me a lot in my studies."

Daniel Ortiz
"Do you have a career path that you've chosen, that you think seems exciting to you?"

Haziel Alaniz
"Well, what seems exciting to me is to follow my dream of being a pediatrician, so that I can help children in this world to be the future of this world."

Dulce Williams - Recipient, BTL Scholarship
"When my mom told me that I received this scholarship, well, I was so excited. I just felt like to hug her, squeeze her, and like to jump. I'm really grateful to BTL giving me this scholarship, so that I continue my education at Palotti High School. I do really want to continue my studies because I'm a person who works hard, who does her best, and really makes her parents. And I do want to make BTL proud too."

To keep the scholarship annually, the students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
