A 19 year old was killed in Salvapan this weekend. Franklin Tut was out at a bar on Saturday night when another teenager who he thought was a friend cut his throat. It was a gruesome end for a young man. Courtney Weatherburne went looking for answers this weekend. Here's her story.
Rosa Tut and her son Franklin would normally sit here and talk. Now she sits alone on her veranda, wishing he was there.
Franklin was killed last night at Mary's bar in Salvapan – right up the street from his home. He had just spoken to his mom a few minutes before.
Rosa Tut - Mother
"I told him don't go anywhere but I saw he was all dressed up and once he is all dressed up it means he is going out but no, he still went. I was just laying down when I see the other little boy came and said they stab Franklin."
According to eyewitnesses, Tut was inside Mary's bar when another young boy came up to him and slashed his throat. Tut stumbled outside and he was bleeding out on the street.

"They just went into the bar when the guy came from behind with the bottle, it look like he had the bottle broken already and slit his throat."

"He didn't say anything? No exchange of words? The guy just came and slit his throat?"
Voice of Resident
"Yes and it happen in there, according to the guy it happen in there. All we saw was that they had a man on the floor and he had his head down and the girls from the bar were screaming saying okay you do something, take him to the hospital he is dying but one big bawling, big crowd but it look like the people who were in there who had vehicle everybody took off, nobody help."
Information is that he had to take his shirt and tie it around his neck to try and stop the bleeding. After some time, someone finally raced him to the hospital but he didn't make it. And during all that commotion, his attacker ran off. According to his mom, Tut and his killer were close friends and she doesn't know what could have caused such a fracture in their bond.

"They were both friends, they ate here, they talk. That is why I am surprised, why he did that, what was the problem because he is a young man who all the time sits down and talks to me and tell me what is his problem on the street."
Courtney Weatherburne
"You are not sure what went wrong in their friendship? What caused this to happen?"
Rosa Tut
"I am asking the question the same thing, what happen, what went through for this to happen."
But there are no clear answers at this point. So Tut just has to remember and celebrate the life her young son had.
Rosa Tut
"He was a happy person, he liked friends. He had a lot of friends. He was friendly. If he could do you a favour he would. He used to fix bicycle and that is how he make money and if his friend come that need help, he help them."
Important to note is that according to the residents, there have been a number of incidents at Mary's bar and the loud music disturbs the neighborhood. The residents have had enough and want it closed down.
