Hope Creek Construction Worker Murdered on the Job
posted (August 13, 2018)

A Hope Creek construction worker also died a gruesome death over the weekend. 27 year old Marcos Sanches was drinking at an after work get together with co-workers. But that later led to him being bludgeoned to death. Courtney Weatherburne has the story.

It doesn't look like anyone could get a good night's rest out here but Marcos Sanches made the best of it for the sake of his job.

He and his fellow construction workers were building this house off the Hopkins Road.

But his camp site became the spot where he took his last breath. He was killed sometime between Friday night and early Saturday morning. According to information, Sanches, his co-workers and their contractor were all hanging out at the site on Friday night. But things went terribly wrong when everyone went home – leaving Sanches and another co-worker alone:

Esteban Sanches - Brother
"They were drinking from early in the evening, my brother and the other co-workers, in the evening they were all together around 6:00 , 7:00, they were all together, the contractor because it was pay day that day. The contractor told us that he was there when they were drinking, talking and eating and so forth. Then he left around 7:30, he left them and they were still drinking but there was no kind of misunderstanding, no fighting, everything was fine they were joking around and laughing and so forth and he say he don't understand how the situation end up like this because before he left them he said they were all good."

But it didn't turn out good at all. Sanches' co-worker allegedly bludgeoned him to death.

Esteban Sanches
"He had several injuries in his head, but mostly in his head like everything was like really harmful with heavy stuff in his head."

Courtney Weatherburne
"The guy bashed your brother in the head?"

Esteban Sanches
"Like they bat him, actually it seemed like he was not fighting against him, it is like they hit him and hit him and he was drunk and maybe he couldn't fight against or did anything because I don't think my brother would leave himself if he wasn't that high even if you're drunk, once it is death you won't be staying or sitting to make someone hit you."

Sanches says he doesn't know of any previous disagreements his brother might have had with this co-worker to explain this merciless attack. Now, all the family wants is for the police to get to the bottom of it so there can be justice for their loved one.

Esteban Sanches
"The police are investigating and so forth so we look forward that they do interrogation and so forth and see what happened."

Sanches leaves behind a 4 year old daughter.
